We are delighted to be able to offer you this amazing Hand-reeled TROPICAL Plant Dyed Bombyx Silk from Laos.

This yarn is extremely thin. Think thread. And consider: a strand of this yarn is made up of 50 cocoons reeled together. A single strand from one cocoon barely registers at the edge of visibility let alone touch. Tis a marvel and rather boggles the mind.

Precious Jewels are handcrafted in Laos from the finest quality Bombyx cocoons using the ancient and arduous techniques of hand-reeling. First it must be degummed to remove the sericin (worm gum) - another arduous process. And then the reeling can begin. After reeling it is plant dyed with the exotic dyes of South East Asia.

They have the wonderful luxury of having and using Indigo in its plant form - leaves and fermentation and.. Something we Never have access to here. Color me jealous. Also Flametree, Ebony Flowers! (!) and other plants native to Laos.

We have named these colors with our names as none of us can read Laotian.

So far people who love this yarn are extreme lace knitters, extreme weavers, embroiderers and other very creative fiber artists.
