You get to design each square, letting each one be an adventure - play with the placement of white and color. Have fun with it. It will come out perfect - no matter what. You'll see.
And once knit up you get to Full it! Fulling is Ye Olde English boiled wool. It retains a malleable hand and makes the piece more jacket-like than sweater-like. It is a finish suitable for wearables unlike Felting which is more suitable for purses and would be like body armor in a wearable.
Valentina says this piece works great fulled or left un-fulled. Either way, it's a winning garment.
